Farm to Work

Farm to Work is an employee wellness program that provides employees with a weekly or biweekly opportunity to order and receive a basket of local fresh produce delivered to the worksite.  Employees can place an order for a basket as often or as seldom as they like. To find out if Farm to Work is available at your worksite, employees should check with their worksite’s wellness coordinator.

To learn how the program works, visit www.farmtowork.org. The Sustainable Food Center, a non-profit organization that aims to cultivate a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food, coordinates with the farmers and oversees the program’s daily operations. WebChronic Consulting LLC maintains the ordering and administrative websites for Farm to Work.

Worksites interested in learning more about Farm to Work can download the Farm to Work Toolkit (PDF, 2.2 MB) (and also the Farm to Work Toolkit Supplement, (PDF, 2.2 MB), which compiles all the tools, sample documents, and other resources that were developed to successfully implement Farm to Work at the Texas Department of State Health Services. Interested worksites may also attend the Sustainable Food Center’s Program Replication training.

Farm to Work is recognized by the Center for Training and Research Translation (Center TRT) as an emerging intervention. It has also been recognized by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Association of State Public Health Nutritionists, Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, and National Association of County and City Health Officials.
