Symptoms and Triggers of Asthma

The symptoms of asthma include:

• Rapid and labored breathing
• Shortness of breath
• Wheezing
• Coughing
• Chest tightness
• Nocturnal Awakenings
• Chest Pain

Triggers can be:

• Respiratory infections
• Allergens such as dander, dust mites, cockroaches
• Environmental conditions such as weather changes and cold air
• Environmental substances such as smoke, powders, sprays, chemical fumes, and air pollutants (e.g. ozone, NO2, particulates)
• Exercise and hyperventilation
• Improperly treated medical conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux and sinusitis
• Emotions and stress
