If renewing by mail, the renewal form must be fully completed and postmarked with the appropriate renewal fee before the expiration date of the license in order to avoid late renewal fees.
Each licensee is responsible for renewing the license before the expiration date and shall not be excused from paying additional fees or penalties. Failure to receive notification from the board prior to the expiration date of the license shall not excuse failure to file for timely renewal. A licensee who forwards the renewal form to his or her employer's accounting department is not excused from responsibility for timely renewal and is not excused from paying late renewal fees, if the employer does not submit the payment by the license expiration date. Since licenses are issued to individuals, maintaining the athletic trainer license in good standing is the responsibility of each athletic trainer, not the athletic trainer's employer.
The board's license renewal fee is $260.00 and must be postmarked on or before the license expiration date. Late renewal fees are $385.00 when postmarked during the first 90 days after the license expiration date and $510.00 when postmarked more than 90 days but less than one year after the license expiration date.
NOTE: An athletic trainer license that has been expired for one year or more may not be renewed. The person must reapply, meet current licensing requirements, and successfully complete the licensure examinations in order to hold a license.
