2014 HNSS

2014 Hospital Nurse Staffing Study (HNSS)

*The 2014 HNSS is now closed.  Reports will be available by December 2014.*

During the spring of 2014, the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies (TCNWS) at the Department of State Health Services asked all Chief Nursing Officers (CNO)/Directors of Nursing (DON) of Texas hospitals to complete a short survey. The information collected will be used to:

  • Assess the size and effects of the nursing shortage in Texas' hospitals.
  • Forecast the number of nurses needed in Texas.
  • Serve as a resource for the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies’ Advisory Committee, the Governor's Office, and legislators in establishing legislative priorities and making policy decisions.

The survey (PDF, 269 KB), its instructions (PDF, 57 KB), and definitions (PDF, 45 KB) are available for review.

Please be aware that your survey responses will be strictly confidential. All findings will be reported in aggregate form only. Individual hospital data will not be identified.
