During the spring of 2017, the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies (TCNWS) at the Department of State Health Services is asking all Chief Nursing Officers (CNO)/Directors of Nursing (DON) of Texas long term care facilities to complete a short survey. The information collected will be used to:

  • Assess the size and effects of the nursing shortage in Texas' nursing facilities.
  • Forecast the number of nurses needed in Texas.
  • Serve as a resource for the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies’ Advisory Committee, the Governor's Office, and legislators in establishing legislative priorities and making policy decisions.

Please be aware that your survey responses will be strictly confidential. All findings will be reported in aggregate form only. Individual facility data will not be identified.

The survey instructions (PDF, 148 KB) and operational definitions (PDF, 100 KB) are available for review.

Your participation in the survey is voluntary but highly encouraged!
