Grant Program

House Bill 280 (H.B. 280), 85th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2017, added Section 105.011 to include a workplace violence prevention grant program. The Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies will administer a grant program to fund innovative approaches for reducing verbal and physical violence against nurses in hospitals, freestanding emergency medical care facilities, nursing facilities, and home health agencies. The legislation requires grant recipients to submit periodic reports describing the outcome of the activities funded through the grant. Award funding for this program will be contingent upon funds being made available by the Texas Board of Nursing through an increase of nurse licensure fees.

2016 Facility and Individual Nurse Studies

House Bill 2696 (H.B. 2696), 84th Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2015, added Section 105.009 to the Health and Safety Code to allow the Texas Center for Nursing Workforce Studies (TCNWS) to conduct a study on workplace violence against nurses in hospitals, freestanding emergency medical care facilities (FEC), nursing facilities, and home health agencies (HHA).
