End Stage Renal Disease Facilities

The Department of State Health Services maintains this webpage, but pursuant to Senate Bill 200, regulatory authority over End Stage Renal Disease Facilities has transferred to the Health and Human Services Commission. (HHSC) as of September 1, 2017.



The Texas End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Facility Licensing Act was first enacted in 1995 by the 74th Legislature. The Department develops rules that establish minimum standards for ESRD licensing procedures; for granting, denying, suspending, and revoking a license; for licensing fees; for operation; and for requirements concerning design, construction.

Licensing

The staff of the Facility Licensing Group is responsible for licensing ESRDs. To become licensed please see the end stage renal disease facility licensing page.

The Architectural Review Group is responsible for conducting plan reviews and construction inspections of new and existing ESRDs.
