Let's Read at Home! Eating the Alphabet

Let's Read at Home! Eating the Alphabet

There are several things which you can do with your child at home to make reading and healthy eating come alive for them. Pick one of these or do all of them as you have time.

1. Borrow Eating the Alphabet: Fruits and Vegetables from A to Z by Lois Ehlert from your local library. Read it again with your children.

2. During the next trip to the grocery store, let your child pick out two fruits or vegetables for the family to eat. Children like to eat foods they help select.

3. Let your three or four year old practice making circles and straight lines on a sheet of paper. This will help to get them ready for writing the alphabet in school.

4. Let your child draw on the "Fruits and Vegetables" sheet which WIC gave you. Put the sheets up where you eat. They will remind your child to eat well everyday.
