Dear Title V DSHS Laboratory Submitter:
We are notifying you of an upcoming change in the requirements for submitting triple screen specimens to the Texas Department of State Health Services Laboratory. To maintain high quality testing standards, the DSHS Laboratory must obtain from the submitter the history of Open Spina Bifida (OSB)/Neural Tube Defect (NTD) for patient specimens submitted for triple screen testing. This is a new field that will be added to the DSHS Laboratory G-1C Specimen Submission form. The medical provider will be responsible for selecting the most suitable entry while filling out the specimen submission form. The legend for the different types of entries for the history of OSB/NTD will be included in the instruction pages of the G-1C form.
Please begin providing the OSB/NTD history for specimens submitted for triple screen testing upon receipt of the revised G-1C Specimen Submission form.
If you have questions regarding this change, please contact Susan Hoffpauir at (888) 963-7111 ext. 6030 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
