BIG SPRING - Faithful and organized best describes Big Spring State Hospital’s December Volunteer of the Month, Verna Davis. The volunteer who is referred to at the hospital as “Our ALONUSA Volunteer Leader” is responsible for the incredible ‘Santa’s Workshop’ that has taken place at Big Spring State Hospital for the past 10 years.
Preparing for Christmas is not for the faint at heart. Davis recruits and organizes the group of more than 30 ALONUSA who wrap and deliver more than 600 Christmas presents for patients to open Dec. 25. However, her assistance with this project is just the tip of the iceberg.
Verna Davis has helped in numerous other ways: supporting the Christmas Appeal, Denim and Diamonds, and Cars, Stars, and Handlebars. Verna has represented ALON numerous times, both locally and at State volunteer meetings to receive awards and honors given to ALONUSA.
Davis will receive a rosebud vase from Alley Kat Florist for this month’s recognition.
