June is Men’s Health Month

Men: it’s never too late to make your health a priority! Small changes to your lifestyle can help prevent future problems. Here are a few steps you can take to improve your health:

  • Get 7-9 hours of sleep
  • Quit smoking
  • Exercise two or more days a week
  • Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables every day
  • Control stress and find support
  • See your doctor or nurse for checkups

Prevention along with early detection and treatment of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and depression are key to improving men’s health. Take action today and be an example for other men and boys in your life. For more information on health promotion and chronic disease prevention, visit www.dshs.texas.gov/chronic/.
