DSHS Advises Some Patients May Need New Mammograms

News Release
November 29, 2005

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is advising that patients of Cyvon Imaging, Inc., doing business as Community Diagnostics at 1114 N. Bishop in Dallas, consider getting a new mammogram.

The company has ceased doing business, and it is unlikely that the old mammograms will be available for comparison with future exams.

“People who got their most recent mammogram from Cyvon Imaging, Inc., operating as Community Diagnostics, should ask their physicians about the need for a repeat mammogram,” said Jerry Cogburn with DSHS mammography inspections. “The repeat mammograms may be necessary to re-establish a baseline mammogram, a critical factor for early detection of cancer.”

DSHS has pursued legal remedies in an attempt to ensure the availability of these records for future reference. But Cogburn said it appears that there will be no resources to store or transfer the medical records to patients or their physicians.
