News Release
June 29, 2010

Rio Grande State Center in Harlingen will temporarily suspend admissions at 10 p.m. today in anticipation of Tropical Storm Alex. The center’s residents and patients will shelter in place at the facility.

Rio Grande State Center, 1401 Rangerville Road, will not accept new patients until further notice.

The facility’s outpatient clinic and its services will close at 8 a.m. Wednesday until further notice.

“Patient safety is our top priority as we respond to the storm,” said Sonia Hernandez-Keeble, hospital superintendent. “We will continue to provide quality psychiatric and clinical care to our patients and will resume new admissions as soon as possible.”
