Texas Board of Orthotics and Prosthetics Apply for a New License - Registered Student Requirements

Student registration provides the person practicing the prosthetic and/or orthotic profession with legal authorization while fulfilling the postgraduate requirements for licensure by examination. To qualify for a student registration, a person must have completed the academic requirements for a license as a prosthetist, an orthotist, or prosthetist/orthotist and be actively engaged in either completing a clinical prosthetic, orthotic, or prosthetic/orthotic residency; or applying for or awaiting the results of the appropriate examination.

To upgrade a Student Registration to Practitioner License, you must submit the application form, the appropriate fee, a copy of your ABC written exam score report, and a copy of your NCOPE residency certificate. If you did not complete an NCOPE residency, you cannot apply to upgrade – you must apply for your Practitioner License under Unique Qualifications.
