Public Health Region 4 and 5N Tobacco Prevention and Control

The Office of Tobacco Prevention and Control serves as the state-based tobacco information resource center accessible to anyone in the State via a toll-free phone line and provides eight Regional Tobacco Coordinators to conduct FDA Compliance investigations within the region and coordinates training workshops for work sites, schools, health care providers, and community organizations designed to: 

  • facilitate the implementation of non-smoking policies;
  • provide tobacco education resources; and
  • promote smoke-free indoor air.

On-going support to local communities and work sites in the development of non-smoking policies/ordinances is provided by the Regional staff. Activities to reduce tobacco use by youth and initiate tobacco prevention is provided through youth education and vendor compliance education.
