Costs and funding

School-based health centers: How are they financed?  The following links provide results from national surveys describing the number of school-based health centers, where they are located, types of services offered, and how they are financed.





  • Implementation toolsThis list of implementation tools developed by the Center for Health and Health Care in Schools contains a sample of needs assessment tools, patient satisfaction surveys, recommended supply of medications and equipment.
  • Fact sheets produced by NASBHC.  Fact sheets developed on the following topics related to school-based health centers: Benefits, cost savings, mental health, childhood obesity, Medicaid and SCHIP, and increased access.  After accessing the site, scroll down to the SBHC Fact Sheets.
  • School-based Dental Health: Clinical Operations and Management Many school-based health centers include full dental services.  Dr. Murray Rosenthal with support from the Center for Health and Health Care in Schools developed a step by step toolkit for establishing a dental program within school-based health centers.
