Office of Border Public Health Community Health Worker Training Center

The Office of Border Public Health Community Health Worker Training Center is approved by the DSHS Community Health Worker (CHW) or Promotor(a) Training and Certification Program to provide continuing education unit training for Promotores, Certified Community Health Workers and Community Health Worker Instructors along the Texas-Mexico border.

All training developed and/or provided by OBPH is FREE to the public. Our focus is identifying the gaps within public health issues such as but not limited to; Human Trafficking, Elder and Child Abuse, Maternal and Child Health, Mental Health as well as Chronic and Infectious Diseases. We as a training center are working with the OBPH Public Health Regional Offices (Region 8, Region 9/10, Region 11) to provide training of value.

Goal

Our goal is to ensure that our training center provides the knowledge and tools for CHWs and CHWIs to educate and empower members of the Texas-Mexico border community.
