Nonprofits Fared Better in 2020 than First Anticipated, Survey Finds
Many nonprofit leaders say that increased financial support from funders and the government helped their organizations fare better through 2020 than originally anticipated, a report from the Center for Effective Philanthropy (CEP) finds. Based on a survey conducted in February of CEP's Grantee Voice panel, the report, Persevering Through Crisis: The State of Nonprofits, found that 66 percent of respondents said the COVID-19 pandemic has had a "moderate" (38 percent) or "significant" (28 percent) negative impact on their organizations, down from 84 percent (46 percent and 38 percent, respectively) in a survey conducted in May 2020. PURPOSE: The purpose of the PREIS program is to fund projects to implement and conduct a rigorous evaluation of innovative adolescent pregnancy prevention strategies. The services are targeted to high-risk, vulnerable, and culturally under-represented youth populations, which includes but is not limited to youth in foster care, homeless youth, youth with HIV/AIDS, victims of human trafficking, pregnant women who are under 21 years of age and their partners, mothers who are under 21 years of age and their partners, and youth residing in areas with high birth rates for adolescents. Personal Responsibility Education Programs (PREP) are required to a) educate adolescents on both abstinence and contraception for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, and b) implement at least three out of six adulthood preparation subjects: healthy relationships, adolescent development, financial literacy, parent-child communication, educational and career success, and healthy life skills.

Pool Safely Grant Program (PSGP) Consumer Product Safety Commission: CPSC-21-001

PURPOSE: The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), EMS/Trauma Systems (EMS/TS) is pleased to announce that the application needed to apply for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Uncompensated Trauma Care (UCC) Funding can be found at dshs.texas.gov/emstraumasystems/DTFEMSHospUncomptedTraumaCareApp.shtm. Scroll to the bottom of the website to find the application. Additionally, the application information was emailed to all designated and “in active pursuit” hospitals to the Trauma Coordinator/Trauma Program Manager. Texas Health and Safety Code §780.004 directs DSHS to use 94 percent of funds in the Designated Trauma Facility/Emergency Medical Services (DTF/EMS) Account (Fund 5111) to fund a portion of uncompensated trauma care provided at hospitals designated as state trauma facilities and facilities that are in active pursuit of trauma designation by the application due date. Texas Health and Safety Code §773.122 directs DSHS to use 27 percent of funds in the Emergency Medical services, Trauma Facilities, and Trauma Care Systems Account (Fund 5108) and 27 percent of funds in the Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Care Systems Account (Fund 5007) to fund a portion of uncompensated trauma care provided at hospitals designated as state trauma facilities by the application due date.

Emergency Connectivity Fund Program for Schools and Libraries

$ AVAILABLE: $7.17 billion. The Emergency Connectivity Fund Program is administered by Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) with oversight from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Libraries and schools can apply for funding for the purchase of eligible equipment and services made between July 1, 2021, and June 30, 2022. The fund will reimburse reasonable costs of eligible equipment such as Wi-Fi hotspots, modems, routers, devices that combine a modem and router, connected devices, and eligible broadband connections used to help students, staff, and patrons who otherwise lack access to be able to engage in remote learning.
ELIGIBILITY: Schools and libraries – including primary and secondary schools – that provided off-site broadband service and connected devices to students, staff, and patrons who would otherwise lack access during the COVID-19 health emergency. All of the schools, libraries, and consortia of schools and libraries that are eligible for support under the E-rate program are also eligible for support through the ECF Program. Schools and libraries that are not current E-rate participants may also be eligible for funding if they meet ECF Program requirements. Eligible entities that have not applied for E-rate support should be prepared to demonstrate eligibility as a school or library under ECF Program rules during USAC’s application review. To participate, schools and libraries must have an active FCC Registration Number. Schools, libraries, and service providers who agree to invoice on behalf of applicants must also have a System for Award Management (SAM) registration to be able to receive program support sam.gov/content/home.

Positive Action for Women

PURPOSE: ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action for Women (PAFW) Initiative is currently seeking proposals to support community collaborations that break down isolation and stigma, link women to prevention and care, and advance leadership and advocacy for cis and trans women of color living with, vulnerable to or impacted by HIV.

Virtual Living Room® - Using Technology to Address the Critical Healthcare Needs of Veterans in Rural Areas

PURPOSE: Virtual Living Room® is a FRS grant program that blends rural technology, VA resources and local support to encourage veteran use of telehealth. A Virtual Living Room® saves veterans travel time and costs while enabling connections to skilled physicians and other providers in the VA medical system. The Virtual Living Room® provides free broadband access to VA telehealth and other online services by providing access points in publicly-accessible locations such as a library, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) hall or firehouse. These venues provide complete computer workstations, privacy and necessary peripherals to connect to VA medical professionals. The Virtual Living Room can provide Veterans with peer and technical support and can be an on-ramp to home use of VA telehealth services.
