Jennifer Sims

Jennifer joined the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) in March 2016 and is responsible for program oversight and agency operations, including direct responsibility for financial services, program operations, external relations, strategic planning, public health data, and policy oversight. In her 23-year career in state government, Jennifer has served in senior management positions at multiple state agencies including serving as Deputy Commissioner of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and Associate Commissioner of the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).

Jennifer has held various positions in the health and human services system including director of external relations and executive operations. She holds a Master of Social Work from The University of Texas, Arlington and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In addition, Jennifer holds professional certifications in Change Management, Mediation, and Dispute Resolution.
