Information for Patients Returning to Mexico

Patients returning to Mexico (voluntarily or via deportation) are able to receive HIV-related treatment through CAPASITS, which are HIV-specific health centers found in each state in Mexico ("Centro Ambulatorio de Prevención y Atención en SIDA e ITS"). CAPASITS provides care and medicines free of charge if the patient does not have health insurance (social security).

  • A recent CD4+ T cell count
  • A recent viral load test result
  • A summary of patient's chart including complete antiretroviral treatment history, including resistance test results
