PROPOSED RULES – PUBLISHED MAY 31, 2019

On May 31, 2019, the board’s proposed rules were published in the Texas Register, available on the Texas Secretary of State’s website at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/texreg/index.shtml. Proposed rules introduce provisions concerning new §801.205 Emergency Limited Temporary License, which clarifies procedures authorized in Texas Government Code, §418.117, such that the board may issue an emergency limited temporary license if the governor declares a disaster and suspends certain statutes and rules.

Call for Public Comment:

When emailing or faxing comments, please indicate "Comments on Proposed Rule" in the subject line. To be considered, comments must be submitted no later than 31 days after the date of this issue of the Texas Register. Comments must be: (1) postmarked or shipped before the last day of the comment period; (2) hand-delivered before 5:00 p.m. on the last working day of the comment period; or (3) emailed or faxed before midnight on the last day of the comment period. If the last day to submit comments falls on a holiday, comments must be postmarked, shipped, emailed or faxed before midnight on the following business day to be accepted.

CURRENT RULES – EFFECTIVE MAY 26, 2019


The board’s current rules are always available and up-to-date on the Texas Secretary of State’s website at http://www.sos.state.tx.us/tac/index.shtml. The board’s rules are located in Title 22 of the Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 801. 

As a courtesy, staff creates a reformatted version of the rules, available in Word format and as a portable document format (PDF) file via the links below, which may be more easily searched than the rules available on the Texas Secretary of State’s website. Whenever a conflict exists between the staff’s reformatted version of the rules and those on the Texas Secretary of State’s website, the version on the Texas Secretary of State’s website is the correct version.
