Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council

Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council adopted rules, effective September 1, 2020

ADOPTED RULES – EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2020

On June 16, 2020, the Executive Council met and adopted rules that were published in the July 10 edition of the Texas Register [45 TexReg 4751]. The adopted rules become effective September 1, 2020 and will be available on the Texas Secretary of State’s website under Title 22, Part 41. The Executive Council’s adopted rules implement House Bill 1501, 86th Legislature, Regular Session (2019). This legislation created the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council and authorized the Executive Council to regulate marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, psychologists, and social workers. Sections 507.151 and 507.152 of Title 3 of the Texas Occupations Code authorize the Executive Council to administer and enforce Chapters 501, 502, 503, 505, and 507 of Title 3 of the Texas Occupations Code, as well as adopt rules as necessary to perform the Executive Council's duties.

As a courtesy, staff created a reformatted version of the rules as a portable document format (PDF), which may be more easily searched than the rules available on the Texas Secretary of State’s website. Whenever a conflict exists between the staff’s reformatted version of the rules and those on the Texas Secretary of State’s website, the version on the Texas Secretary of State’s website is the correct version.
