* Mortality statistics in this table are tabulated based on the CDC/National Center for Health Statistics List of 113 Selected Causes of Death and Enterocolitis due to Clostridium difficile: ICD-10 Cause-of-Death Lists for Tabulating Mortality Statistics. The 113 selected cause-of-death categories are based on the underlying causes of deaths and nationally used for the general analysis of mortality and for ranking leading causes of death in the population of all ages. In 2006 ICD-10 code A04.7 Enterocolitis due to Clostridium difficile was added to the bottom of the 113 cause list as a rankable cause of death.
** Pregnancy-Related Deaths are reported as the number of deaths due to pregnancy, childbirth, the puerperium up to six weeks post-delivery, and any obstetric cause from 42 days to a year post-delivery and its sequelae (ICD-10 codes O00 - O99).
