Doctor vaccinates a man

August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), a great reminder that vaccines aren’t just for kids—adults need vaccines too! Over time, immunity from childhood vaccines can wear off, and as we age, we become more vulnerable to certain diseases. Staying up to date on recommended adult vaccines helps protect you from illnesses like the flu.

Whether you're managing a chronic health condition, caring for others, or just looking to stay healthy and active, vaccines are a safe and effective way to protect yourself and your community. Talk to your health care provider to make sure you are current on all recommended immunizations. Taking care of your health now means more time to do the things you love—so roll up your sleeve and protect your future!

This is especially important for first responders, health care workers, and others who serve on the front lines. Being vaccinated not only protects you, but also the people you encounter every day—many of whom may be more at risk for severe illness. Talk to your health care provider to make sure you are current on all recommended immunizations.
