Texas Community Health Worker Partnership
Mission
To support Texas’ Community Health Worker (CHW) workforce by engaging organizations, agencies, institutions, and individuals to work collaboratively to uphold certification standards, share training and professional development opportunities, and promote the integration of CHWs in healthcare systems and community-based programs.
Goals and Objectives
The Texas CHW Partnership (TX CHWP) will provide input and recommendations to support the mission of the TX CHW Training and Certification Program. TX CHWP will also develop goals, objectives, and action items to increase CHW training, certification, and employment opportunities.
Joining the TX CHWP
Membership is open to any individual who commits to and contributes to the mission of TX CHWP. Those seeking membership should complete and submit a membership application.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reserves the right to approve or deny membership applications based on the CHWP capacity, federal and state priorities, and executive direction.
Benefits of Membership:
TX CHW members will:
- Gain increased insight and understanding of Texas certification standards and trends for CHWs, CHW instructors, training centers and training curricula.
- Learn about training and professional development opportunities from members.
- Collaborate with a network of other members to promote the integration of CHWs in healthcare systems and community-based programs.
- Connect with diverse individuals and partner organizations from across Texas, working with and for CHWs.
Membership Expectations
There are no membership dues. However, members are strongly encouraged to:
- Attend TX CHWP meetings;
- Seek opportunities to collaborate with other partners to advance CHW training, certification, and employment opportunities;
- Participate in a workgroup; and
- Share individual and/or organizational best practices and updates on activities.
Workgroups
Workgroups may be formed as needed to address priority items identified in the TX CHWP meetings. If workgroups are formed, members are strongly encouraged to participate in at least one workgroup.
Goals and objectives of the workgroups must be aligned with the TX CHWP’s mission and annual goals.
