In the 140-plus years that the Austin State Hospital has been serving patients, its work has been accompanied by documents of every sort. From medical records for admission, treatment and medication to budget, personnel and construction documents — these records are a window into the history of the hospital and mental health care in Texas. In late 2021, the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health awarded $260,000 to The University of Texas at Austin to work with the hospital on the Austin State Hospital Archives Project which will include identifying, categorizing and preserving the records and making them accessible for researchers and the public.

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is launching a $23.2 million public awareness campaign to prevent substance use disorders and help Texans access necessary treatment and services. The projects that are part of the campaign are funded from the $252.8 million HHSC received in 2021 in federal Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant supplemental funds through H.R. 133 and the American Rescue Plan Act. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) directed states to use the funding to address local substance use disorders-related needs, improve efficiency, and improve planning and oversight of substance use disorder (SUD) prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery services. ELIGIBILITY: Your organization must be defined as a Section 501(c) nonprofit of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Your program must improve the quality of life for active duty, reserve, or National Guard and/or veterans and their families.
PURPOSE: The Chairman's Award is given to organizations that are working to improve quality of life for military members and their families, including programs for job training, housing, caregiver support, and mental health. ELIGIBILITY: Award nominees must consent to be nominated, be legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and be 16 years of age or older at the time of nomination. Women, non-binary, or gender non-confirming individuals are eligible.
PURPOSE: The L'Oreal Women of Worth program honors women in the United States whose volunteer work serves their communities. The program seeks nominees who effect the social fabric of the community or the well-being of individuals or families. Examples of efforts to address community needs include:
• Providing food, shelter, and access to health care. 
• Providing arts programming or activities.
• Strengthening educational programs.
• Providing enrichment activities that benefit children.
The nominee's volunteer activities must have occurred in the continental United States and have primarily benefited domestic American needs. To be eligible, the volunteer activity should have lasted for at least six uninterrupted months and should be ongoing.
