| Synonym(s): | Pyrosequencing, Antiviral resistance testing |
|---|---|
| Requisition Form | N/A |
| Test Description | The NA gene in pandemic influenza H1N1 positive samples is partially sequenced to detect the H275Y mutation, which is known to confer resistance to Oseltamivir. |
| Pre-Approval Needed | If previous PCR testing has been performed and antiviral resistance is suspected on a positive H1N1 sample, please call the Infectious Disease Control Unit at 512-776-7676. |

| Interferences/Limitations | N/A |
| Common Causes for Rejection | Not enough sample volume, does not meet current seasonal algorithm for testing. |
| Additional Information | Positive pandemic H1N1 samples tested with the influenza real-time RT-PCR assay will receive pyrosequencing for investigational purposes only and results are not provided to submitters. |
