Infectious Disease Reporting – Public Health Region 8

The Region 8 Epidemiology Team receives and responds to notifiable conditions as outlined in the Texas Health and Safety Code Chapters 81, 84, and 87.

Immediately reportable conditions should be reported to DSHS Region 8 by calling our 24/7 reporting line: 210-949-2121. Other reportable conditions and supporting documentation may be faxed to our secure fax: 512-206-3995.

Data

The reports linked below show a monthly summary of the infectious diseases identified within PHR 8 counties.

  • Data Source – Notifiable disease reporting data are obtained from the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS).   
  • Jurisdiction – This report includes data for all PHR 8 counties, excluding Bexar County. The infectious diseases included in this report are received and investigated by DSHS PHR 8 Epidemiology and Zoonosis programs, the Comal Count Office of Public Health, or the Victoria County Public Health Department.
  • Conditions – A list of all notifiable conditions is available at Notifiable Conditions | Texas DSHS.
