Purpose
The Office of Border Public Health (OBPH) is dedicated to environmental, epidemiological, and educational projects specific to the Texas and Mexico border with the goal of fostering a safe and healthy environment and living practices. The OBPH maintains partnerships along the Paso del Norte region to function cooperatively with agencies that serve bi-national populations. The OBPH in region 9/10 attempts to meet the health needs of bi-national communities along the Texas-Mexico border region.
Activities:
- Provide consultative and technical assistance to providers, public health experts, and residences
- Establish a network of communication with community/migrant health centers and the community
- Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to encourage a consolidated and effective approach to public health programs
- Monitor diseases, conditions, and environmental hazards and prepare periodic reports of these data
