  • Using sterile forceps/instrument, transfer sample to sterile, water-tight, wide-mouthed container. 
  • If possible, store sample at commercial-stock temperature; otherwise, store on crushed ice.
  • Place food sample in sterile zip-lock or whirlpack bag or other sterile plastic container. 
  • Store on ice.
