Annual Electronic Calibration
Every audiometer must be electronically calibrated to ANSI standards at least once a year by an independent firm with specialized equipment and trained staff.
Options for Calibration
Calibration by the Manufacturer
Calibration by an independent firm- you must either ship it to them or schedule for a service technician to come to you.
Request the list of Calibration companies registered by the State of Texas to calibrate audiometers for use in Texas via email at vhssprogram@dshs.texas.gov.
Process for performing an annual electronic calibration:
- When shipping, pack the audiometer carefully to protect it from damage in transit.
- Include a list of any problems you discover while using the audiometer.
- The firm will provide results on a form that should be kept with the audiometer.
- As soon as the audiometer is returned, the user should perform a biological check to re-establish new baseline hearing records for three people, as outlined previously.
What to confirm after calibration
- Calibration Certificate
- Calibration Sticker
