Tour - Air

Animal Topics  Virtual Tour: Air
(Animals, Animal Control, Animal Shelters, Animals in Disaster, Animals in Public Places,
Animal Friendly Program,  Animal Ownership, Animal Bites)

Air-1

Some shelters use natural ventilation (such as windows)
while others have climate control. If a large shelter has
heating and air-conditioning, special units are needed in
order to provide enough fresh air to minimize odors. It is
recommended that all the air in the shelter be completely
replaced with fresh air every 6 minutes.

Air-2

A tremendous amount of water is required to keep
animal shelters clean, particularly for hosing out
the dog runs. Special plumbing is required in all
of the animal areas, including large floor drains.
