Legislative Reports - Immunizations Unit
The Immunizations Unit reports biennially to the Texas Legislature regarding the reduction of vaccine-preventable diseases. Additionally, the Immunizations Unit also prepares periodic reports concerning strategies for improving the health of Texans and the status of immunization coverage levels across the state. This information is used by lawmakers to make informed decisions with factual, medically accurate, and evidence-based information.
Additionally, the Immunizations Unit provides a report to the Texas Legislature on the number of meningococcal exemption requests processed for students enrolling in public junior and community colleges. Information regarding the web portal and the exemption process is also included in the report. The Immunizations Unit submits the report to the Texas Legislature each year.
HPV Strategic Plan
Senate Bill 200, 84th Legislature, Regular Session, 2015, charged the Health and Human Services Commission with developing a strategic plan to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality from human papillomavirus (HPV) associated cancer.
On June 3, 2016, Texas DSHS and HHSC conducted a public hearing to present the HPV strategic plan to stakeholders and the public, answer questions from those in attendance and collect public comments regarding HPV prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
