Turnaround time (TAT) for test results could take 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the type of test being done. TATs are identified in each test’s description, which are found in the LTSM Test Menu/Directory.
The mycology lab accepts only pure isolates for testing. Clinical specimens cannot be accepted. For additional guidance, please refer to the online submission instructions found on the test page of the test you are requesting, found in the LTSM Test Menu/Directory.
Use the most recent version of the G-2E Submission Form. Please ensure you are coordinating with a regional epidemiologist before submitting the swabs. Refer to the DSHS AR Lab’s webpage for more guidance on C. auris submissions.
Do not refrigerate or freeze specimens that must be stored and shipped at ambient temperatures.
Ship refrigerated or frozen specimens in insulated containers with enough refrigerant (gel ice packs or dry ice) to keep them cold for up to 48 hours.
Maximize insulation and cushion specimens in transit by minimizing empty space inside insulated container by packing remaining space with absorbent material. Avoid leaving specimens loose inside shipping containers.
Submit specimens as soon as possible after collection. Do not hold onto specimens to bulk-ship them.
