About Regional and Local Health Operations (RLHO) Community Health Worker (CHW) Coordination
RLHO CHW Coordination was established to create a centralized, yet regionally responsive, framework to support CHWs across Texas. By partnering closely with DSHS Public Health Regions (PHRs), the goal is to ensure that CHWs have the resources, training, and support needed to succeed in their communities.
Our Mission
Empower and strengthen the role of Community Health Workers (CHWs) through various initiatives, including education, training, professional development, and networking opportunities.
Our Vision
A connected, skilled, and supported CHW workforce that reflects and responds to the health needs of Texas communities.
Our Structure
- RLHO CHW Coordination Team – Leads statewide coordination efforts in collaboration with DSHS PHRs.
- Regional CHW Points of Contact – Serve as local liaisons for CHW coordination and support.
- RLHO CHW Training Center – Designs and delivers high-quality training tailored to CHWs and CHW Instructors.
CHWs are essential to advancing public health, especially in underserved and vulnerable communities. Through coordinated efforts, the aim is to elevate the CHW role, enhance regional collaboration, and promote excellence in CHW training and practice.
