EHR Certification Criteria

EHR Certification Criteria

In order to participate in Certified EHR Reporting to the Texas Cancer Registry (TCR), physicians must use Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT) that is certified for cancer reporting criteria. The specific certification criteria required for cancer reporting differs according to the Certification Edition (2014 or 2015) an EHR is certified. The table below lists the certification criteria required for cancer reporting according to Certification Edition.

Certification Criteria for Cancer Reporting
 Certification Criteria for Cancer Reporting
2014 Certification Edition 2015 Certification Edition
 170.314 (f)(5): Cancer Case Information
170.314 (f)(6): Transmission to Cancer Registries
170.315 (f)(4): Transmission to Cancer Registries

Please see the instructions below for determining if your EHR meets these criteria. The link below will redirect you to the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL) website, which provides a comprehensive and authoritative listing of all certified Health Information Technology which has been successfully tested and certified by the ONC Health IT Certification program. If your EHR is not listed as being certified for cancer reporting criteria, please contact your EHR vendor for further information.

Instructions for verifying your EHR's certification criteria:

1. Go to the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL) website: https://chpl.healthit.gov/

2. Enter the developer, product, or CHPL ID into the search bar, and click the search icon (magnifying glass).

5. Under the "Certification Criteria" bar, scroll down to the certification criteria required for cancer reporting, which are different depending under which Certification Edition (2014 or 2015) your EHR is certified. If there are check marks next to the cancer reporting certification criteria, then your EHR is certified; if there are no check marks next to the cancer reporting certification criteria, then your EHR is not certified.
