The Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) provides an individual record level cancer incidence dataset without personal identifiers for analysis and research known as TCR Limited-Use Data. This dataset is available by request in SAS or SEER*Stat file formats.
Before submitting a request for a limited-use incidence dataset, please review the following:
Texas cancer mortality data are available from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program; see their U.S. Mortality Data webpage for details. From there, you may access mortality data at the state and county levels. Accessing these data requires a signed SEER Research Data Agreement form; refer to Accessing the SEER Data for more information.
Additional Documentation for TCR Limited-Use Data
- Site Recode ICD-O-3/WHO 2008 (major cancer site groups used to report cancer incidence data)
- ICCC Recode ICD-O-3/WHO 2008 (childhood cancer site groups)
- SEER Cause of Death Recode (4/16/2012)
- SEER Cause-Specific Death Classification (for cause-specific survival analysis)
SEER*Stat Software available to analyze TCR Limited-Use Data
The SEER Program provides free software called SEER*Stat that can be used for the analysis and reporting of cancer statistics. Additional information, including how to request the SEER*Stat software, is available on the SEER website.
TCR requests that any person or organization reporting results or analyses using cancer data provided by the TCR include the Requested Citation/Acknowledgement of TCR Data Use in their report, presentation, or publication.
If you have any questions, contact the TCR Epidemiology Group via email at CancerData@dshs.texas.gov or call 512-776-3080.
