Beginning in January, 2013, the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) began conducting on-site audits to verify the Health Care-Associated Infections (HAI) data that facilities are required to report for Texas. The purpose of the audits are to assure the data is complete and accurate but also to assist the facilities in their collection and reporting process. In order for facilities to have better insight into this audit process, the protocol and some of the tools used by the specially trained DSHS employees are posted here. This is intended to help the responsible staff at Texas facilities know what to expect during the audit visit.
