The Zoonosis Control Division promotes public health through prevention and control of diseases transmissible from animals to man.

The Zoonosis Control Division provides the following services:

investigation and surveillance of reported zoonotic diseases in animals and humans;

collection of biological specimens for disease surveillance;

participation of the Rapid Response Team in emerging disease surveillance case field investigations;

identification of various rabies virus strains in submitted specimens;

provision of human rabies biologicals;

regulation and inspection of rabies quarantine facilities;

training of Animal Control Officers; and

implementation of the Oral Rabies Vaccination Program for wildlife.
