Training Events

The work of dedicated cancer reporters like you makes it possible for researchers to determine cancer incidence in populations, identify health disparities, and so much more. To support your commitment to the field of cancer reporting, the Texas Cancer Registry (TCR) offers basic and specialized training, advanced workshops, and software training. Basic Training Series 

TCR is pleased to offer our 2022 Basic Training Webinar Series. This live webinar series is for Texas cancer reporters and will cover all reportable data items required by the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR). This training will cover information on the TCR and its operations, casefinding and follow-up, coding and staging standards for cancer registration, as well as solid tumor rules and treatment for cases diagnosed January 1, 2022 forward.

Register for TCR Basic Training

The series will be conducted live via webinar on Mondays and Wednesdays 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM CT for six weeks, beginning on February 14, 2022. Recordings and materials will be available on FLccSC after each session is completed.

Statewide Training Series 

TCR excitedly announces the sponsorship of the 2023 Statewide Training with Denise C. Harrison, LLC for Texas reporters. This live webinar series is designed for intermediate- and advanced-level cancer reporters who want to grow their abstracting and coding skills. It begins on April 18, 2023 with a new webinar airing each week for six weeks.

Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email that provides information on how to join the live webinar. A reminder email with the presentation materials will be sent out one week prior to each live session.
