The Community Health Worker (CHW) or Promotor(a) Training and Certification Program provides leadership to enhance the development and implementation of statewide training and certification standards.
About Us
The Community Health Worker (CHW) or Promotor(a) Training and Certification Program provides leadership to enhance the development and implementation of statewide training and certification standards. It also provides administrative rules for persons who are certified as promotors or community health workers, instructors and sponsoring institutions/training programs.
Our Why
CHWs Are an Important and Emerging Workforce. Dr. John Hellerstedt, former Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, discusses the importance of community health workers as an essential asset in Texas health.
The Community Health Worker (CHW) Advisory Committee is charged with advising the Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) executive commissioner on rules to implement training standards.
Bills and Rules regarding the training and certification of promotores(as) or community health workers (CHWs) provide the guidelines for operating the training and certification program.
