Public Health Region 8 - Public Health Sanitation
Purpose
The purpose of the Public Health Sanitation Program is to protect the physical and environmental health of the citizens of Texas.
Activities
The Public Health Sanitation program provides the following services:
- Investigates general sanitation complaints, including public health nuisances and vector control issues
- Investigate complaint at public lodging (hotels and motels including public pools
- Inspects licensed facilities such as youth camps (including playgrounds, pools, and food services)
- Inspects school food service operations (twice annually per school)
- On request, inspects playgrounds at government-owned facilities
- On request, inspects mass gatherings
