Reporting Testing Results
Birth facilities in Texas must report all hearing screening and diagnostic results to TEHDI (Texas Health and Safety Chapter 47 and Texas Administrative Code Title 25, Chapter 37, Subchapter S. All results must be entered directly into the online TEHDI Management Information System (TEHDI MIS). Through the MIS contractor, Revvity, TEHDI trains new software users on the best ways to use the software to meet state reporting requirements.

Facility Certification Requirements
The Texas Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (TEHDI)program certifies newborn hearing screening programs operating within Texas birthing facilities. According to criteria established by the Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 47and the Joint Committee of Infant Hearing (JCIH) best practices.
TEHDI renews these certifications every six months in January and July. To qualify for renewal, TEHDI reviews the program's last six months of data. TEHDI checks this data for reporting accuracy and ensures the program completes a survey on best practices. Finally, TEHDI assigns the screening program a certification status based on how well it meets state goals for screening rates and prompt follow-up care.
