Based on hospital records
listing ICD-10 code J45-J46 as the principal diagnosis.
|
As of 4th quarter of 2015,
hospital discharge data converted from ICD-9 to ICD-10 codes. Some cases
previously classified as asthma per ICD-9 are now classified as COPD (asthma
with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Also, the significant decrease
in the 2016 rate, as compared with the 2015 rate, might be due to the change
in ICD coding.
