Environmental Services - Public Health Region 1
Environmental Health Services provides direct services to prevent occupational and environmental diseases through the identification, evaluation, and control of environmental health hazards. The Environmental Health Program is directed from the Austin Headquarters and is under the Environmental Section of the Consumer Protection Division.
Environmental Hazards Branch
The Environmental Hazards Branch, under the Environmental Section Inspections Unit, consists of the following programs: Hazard Communication, Environmental Lead, and the Asbestos Hazardous Emergency Response Act (AHERA) for Asbestos Management in Schools.

Effective November 1, 2017, the Mold Program was transferred to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) in accordance with Senate Bill 202 (84th Regular Session 2015).

Asbestos Program
The Asbestos Program safeguards the health of the state's citizens in public buildings by preventing exposure to asbestos through licensing and inspection of those involved in asbestos-related activities.
