Influenza Surveillance Report for MMWR Week 13
The flu activity level for the week ending March 31, 2007 is regional. This is the first reduction in the activity level this season. Regional activity indicates that 2 or more but less than half of the regions are experiencing an increase in ILI and lab-confirmed (by culture) flu has been identified in those regions.
Flu activity continues to decrease across the state.
The DSHS laboratory isolated influenza in specimens collected during week 13 from the following counties:
A/H1
|
A/H3
|
B/Malaysia
|
Nueces |
Dallas |
Nacogdoches |
San Patricio |
Travis |
|
Shelby |
|
|
In addition, Scott and White Laboratory reported culture confirmed influenza A from Bell County. The Air Force Institute for Operational Health (AFIOH) laboratory reported culture confirmed flu B from Brooks City-Base (Bexar County) during week 13.
No school closures or institutional outbreaks were reported during week 13.
