Infection Control in Long Term Care: Precautions (2021 edition)
Streaming. 21 min. 2021. Professional.
Precautions have been developed by OSHA and the CDC to help prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases. This program introduces infection control policies, explaining that gowns and gloves should be worn by staff for all interactions that involve contact with the resident's bodily fluids, blood, secretions, or excretions, as well as contact with potentially contaminated areas in the environment and that personal protective equipment (PPE) should be donned before entry into the room and discarded before exit.
It discusses OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, the CDC's Standard Precautions, the CDC's transmission-based precautions, and the Needlestick Safety and Prevention Act. It also discusses infection prevention practice strategies, including handling of sharps, linen and trash, and contaminated spills, and addresses lab issues.

Walking Safety in Icy Conditions - Concise

Even a small piece of ice can be dangerous. Many people die each year from hitting their heads on concrete after slipping on ice. Other injuries can occur such as dislocated hips, dislocated shoulders, and broken ankles. Your Right to Know: Chemical Hazard Communication for Schools

This DVD explains what cholesterol is, how it contributes to atherosclerosis throughout the entire circulatory system, the difference between LDL and HDL, and the treatment plan to reduce cholesterol levels. This plan may involve taking medications and making lifestyle changes, including eating healthier, increasing physical activity, and quitting smoking. The program shows people how to read the food label, and recommends they avoid saturated and trans-fat and eat more fiber. It explains that quitting smoking is the healthiest thing anyone can do for their health. It gives an overview of types of cholesterol-lowering medication, the importance of taking it as directed, and common side effects.
Managing your High Blood Pressure

This DVD helps people understand high blood pressure, or hypertension, and gives an overview of the treatment plan. It explains that while there may be no symptoms, high blood pressure can still be doing damage to the body which may lead to a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, or eye disease. It encourages patients to keep a record of blood pressure readings and meet with a healthcare provider regularly to maintain the goals of a treatment plan. The plan may include taking medication, checking blood pressure regularly, limiting salt, increasing physical activity, healthy eating, reaching and maintaining a healthy weight, relieving stress, limiting alcohol, and most importantly, quitting smoking. The program gives an overview of types of medication, the importance of taking them as directed, and common side effects.
