2004-2005 Season Summary
Flu activity in Texas for the week ending April 16, remains sporadic.
Reports were received from 10/11 regional surveillance coordinators. Nine of the ten indicated that flu activity occurred in their region during the last week. None reported an increase in flu activity. One institutional outbreak of lab confirmed flu was reported. The DSHS has not been informed of specimens being submitted from this outbreak.
The Sentinel Providers Surveillance Network report a low level of ILI activity below baseline rates. However, this is based on a low number of reports.
Culture + flu A was isolated from specimens from Harris, Lubbock and Travis Counties. Overall flu activity is very low in the state.
