Governor's EMS and Trauma Advisory Council

In 1999, Sunset legislation authorized the establishment of the Governor’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) to advise and make recommendations on developing and implementing Texas Emergency Healthcare System rules. The Governor appoints the council members. 

Vision: A unified, comprehensive, and effective Emergency Healthcare System.

Mission: To promote, develop, and advance an accountable, patient-centered Trauma and Emergency Healthcare System.

GETAC Committee Applications

Interested in serving on a GETAC committee? Applications are being accepted throughout September.

  • Due to tight timelines, applications received after 11:59 PM,  on September 30, 2026,  will not be reviewed or considered. 
  • Committee appointments are open to anyone seeking either a re-appointment or an initial appointment. 
  • EMS/TS will work with the GETAC council chair and committee chairs to coordinate the selection process. 
  • The announcement of new and/or re-appointed committee members will be made in November 2026. Committee terms begin January 1, 2027. 
  • Please be advised that failure to complete all fields on this form may result in your application being excluded from consideration for committee service.   
  • Note: If your appointment to a committee expires in 2026, you MUST reapply to be considered for re-appointment to that committee. To check when a term expires, visit the GETAC committee pages below to view current committee member rosters. 

The 2027 GETAC Committee Application will open at 12:00 AM on September 1, 2026. Attempting to access the application before September 1 will display the message "This form is currently not accepting responses."

Newly appointed and reappointed committee members seeking consecutive terms serve a three-year term. 

GETAC Prehospital Whole Blood Task Force (PHWBTF)

The task force has developed a resource toolkit for the Prehospital Whole Blood Deployment Pilot Program. The toolkit is composed of living documents on the RAC Data Collaborative (RDC) webpage.  When visiting the RDC's document library, select "PHWBTF" under the document category to filter for program-specific documents.
